The Lost Inca Prophecy – Full Review

The Lost Inca Prophecy isn’t a terrible game, but it certainly doesn’t live up to the potential of a puzzle game set in the Incan ruins of Peru.

You’ll follow the story of a woman called Acua and her friend. She dreamt of a prophecy that threatened the Inca, which lead them to the ruins to try and prevent it. Not long after you reach the ruins you put a mask together that magically comes alive. His name is Apu and he will guide you through your journey. Quite an imaginative storyline at this point.

The game is mostly a bejeweled type matching game. If you have no idea what this is, you get a board full of artifacts, it’s your task to find 3 of the same type that all connect. On some puzzles the tiles are hexigon shaped, which means you can link them up in more directions. Pairing up more than 3 artifacts leads to multipliers, which gives you your power-ups faster. You get 4 of these power-ups which include an exploding bomb that takes out random tiles and a re-arranger that changed everything up. The problem with these power-ups is that your stuck with the same ones through the whole game. An option to customise your power-ups would have been a great feature.

The Lost Inca Prophect also throws in hidden object games every now and then. These hidden object games are often very boring and easy, especially because your cursor changes from an arrow to a hand when its over an object, which often leads to you finding objects by accident. You’ll have 5 different items displayed at the top of the screen, but the items are broken up into random and more often than not, silly pieces. For example, it will have you looking for an axe, yet the handle will be in one piece, while the head will be broken into 4 or 5 separate ones. once you’ve found them, your character will assemble them and use the axe which is kind of strange as far as game play goes.

It’s hard to find many reasons for you to play The lost inca prophecy when compared to previous hidden object games. The puzzles them selves aren’t terrible, but the repetitive nature of them becomes too mind numbing. Furthermore, the screens and animations often repeat and with a lack luster story, you get a pretty boring game. With that being said, it’s not a bad way to pass an hour or so, especially if your new to hidden object games and haven’t been spoilt by those with better story lines!
